Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. This is due to the fact that the Native bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for years. Patrons from all of the neighboring states load up in automobiles and visit Oklahoma to wager on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. Since that time, twenty three of the thirty nine American Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have introduced gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the gambling laws, and today run 10 gambling halls of their own.
